The Relationship Between Female Adolescents’ Knowledge of Vaginal Discharge and Genital Hygiene Behavior at SMA IT Darul Hasan, Padangsidimpuan City, 2026

Abstract
Background: Vaginal discharge is a common issue that many teenage girls face, and it can be due to normal bodily functions or signs of an underlying health problem. Understanding vaginal discharge is important because it can affect how teenagers take care of their reproductive health.
Aims: This study looked at how well female teenagers understand vaginal discharge and how that relates to their hygiene habits at SMA IT Darul Hasan in Padangsidimpuan City, in the year 2026.
Methods: A quantitative, cross-sectional design was used. The study included all female students who are teenagers at SMA IT Darul Hasan in Padangsidimpuan City; a total of 68 participants were chosen using the total sampling method. Data was gathered using questionnaires and then checked with the chi-square test.
Result: The analysis showed a p-value = 0.509 (p > 0.05); thus, H0 was accepted and Ha was rejected.
Conclusion: There is no link between how much female teenagers know about vaginal discharge and their habits related to cleaning their genital area at SMA IT Darul Hasan in Padangsidimpuan City. This shows that how teenagers take care of their genital hygiene is not just about what they know, but also about their actions, the environment around them like school, home, and friends, and the availability of clean places to go, all of which affect their habits.
